The 2010 Special Olympic Games will take place from June 9th - 13th at the University of Limerick campus and will be one of the biggest sporting events to take place in Ireland this year. Tickets are now on sale for the opening ceremony of the Games, which will take place at Thomond Park in Limerick on Wednesday, June 9th.

The Seventh Annual UL President's Gala Dinner has been scheduled for Friday, May 14th, 2010 in Dromoland Castle. Further details will follow in due course.
On Wednesday, March 24th, over 100 friends and patrons attended the second annual University of Limerick Chancellor's Concert. Organised by the UL Foundation, this year's fundraising event was in aid of student scholarships for the Blas summer school held annually at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance.
On Wednesday, February 24th, the first of an annual commemorative lecture series took place at UL in memory of the late Mairead Dunlevy, artist, historian and founder of the Hunt Museum. For the inaugural lecture in the series, UL welcomed Dr Claudia Kinmonth MA (RCA). Dr Kinmonth delivered a lecture entitled; "Through Artists' Eyes: Irish Farmhouse Interiors and Costumes as depicted in 19th Century paintings". The lecture took place on Wednesday 24th February, 2010 in the Foundation Building, University of Limerick.
On Thursday January 21st, President of Ireland, Mary McAleese opened The Living Bridge - An Droichead Beo, at the University of Limerick. Spanning 350 metres, the Living Bridge is the longest pedestrian bridge in Ireland, fording the longest river in Ireland and Britain, the river Shannon.
Many key business and community leaders came out in support of the sixth annual UL President’s Gala Dinner, which was held in Dromoland Castle on Friday, May 15th.
The UL Foundation Board Meeting took place on May 7th in New York.
UL’s inaugural Chancellor’s Concert was held on 5th March 2009 in the newly-opened Irish Chamber Orchestra (ICO) Building located on UL’s Clare Campus. It was the first ever public performance to take place in the new building.
